An 18-year-old male suspect was arrested after he allegedly beat his father to death at Sinono village in the Kavango West Region’s Musese Constituency on Friday.
In the weekend crime report issued by the Namibian Police on Sunday, it is alleged that the male suspect was arrested after allegedly hitting his biological father, 34-year-old Cimu Sihova, with a hard stick after an argument.
The next of kin were informed.
The suspect is expected to make his first appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
In an unrelated incident, the lifeless body of an unidentified woman was found hanging with a rope around her neck at Otjiwarongo’s Camp Five area on Friday. It is alleged that the deceased committed suicide.
The woman’s body was discovered by a cattle herder who immediately informed his employer.
The body was transported to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for an official autopsy. Police investigations continue.
In a separate occurrence, it is alleged that two minor boys aged eight and 13 stole a vehicle valued at N.dollars 180 000 from Farm Kaliombo in the Karibib district.
The boys reportedly bunked school on Friday and spent the day on a neighbouring farm before stealing the vehicle and driving it to Karibib.
They were reported to the police by members of the public after being spotted while driving the stolen vehicle in town with friends.
The vehicle has been recovered. Its front bumper was damaged. The 13-year-old suspect was charged and released under parental care, while the younger boy has not yet been charged pending advice from social workers.
The police investigation is ongoing.
