Over 1823 children walked away with a brand-new pair of shoes in the Kunene region over
the weekend. This was part of Project Never Walk Alone’s commitment to eradicate
barefootedness and provide a pair of shoes for every Namibian child who cannot afford one.
The project team kicked off their journey to Kunene from Windhoek on Thursday evening and
started their handover program Friday morning in Kamanjab by delivering 531 pairs of shoes.
The team than travelled to Outjo on the same day and delivered 604 pairs of shoes. The team
wrapped up the Kunene region on Saturday morning by handing over 512 pairs of shoes. All
handovers were filled with joyful and exciting performances by the students and PNWA
Ambassadors and attended by the regional Education leadership.
A total of 20 schools benefitted from the handovers at a total cost of N$567,305. Kunene
became the 7th region to benefit from this initiative and Oshana is earmarked as the next
region.
The project has now officially delivered 7821 pairs of shoes. The Kunene handover was
