Four suicides which allegedly took place on Saturday were reported in the Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) crime report issued on Sunday.
According to the report, a 26-year-old male allegedly hung himself in a tree at Plot Brakwater in Katutura.
NamPol said the deceased, whose name is withheld as his next of kin have not yet been informed, was discovered by a cattle herder who was working at the plot. Police investigation continues.
At Onamulunga village in Oniipa Constituency, a 34-year-old male identified as Afomos Nalimanguluke allegedly committed suicide after his lifeless body was found hanging with a rope around his neck in a thorn tree by a community member who was passing by.
According to the report, no suicide note was left behind. The body was transported to Onandjokwe State mortuary where a post-mortem will be conducted. The next of kin are informed and no foul play is suspected.
Also at Onayena at Ohashipepe village in the Eengodi area, a 20-year-old female identified as Albeltina Kandjimwena died after she allegedly committed suicide.
“The deceased went missing from home the previous day and was found by her sister hanging with a rope around her neck from a tree. No suicide notice was left behind and the body was transported to Okankolo mortuary where a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” the report said.
Her family are informed and no foul play is suspected, but investigations continue.
In a similar occurrence at Omainda village in the Omuthiya area, a 38-year-old male allegedly committed suicide. His lifeless body was found hanging in a tree with a wire around his neck by cattle herders.
According to NamPol no suicide note was left behind and the body was transported to the Omuthiya police mortuary.
The next of kin are not informed and the police are tracing the family.
