Kalahari Holdings handed over five luxury buses to Namibia Contract Haulage (NCH) in Windhoek on Monday.
NCH, established after Independence in 1990 to provide affordable transport between central and northern Namibia, is a subsidiary of Kalahari Holdings.
The new buses include three big buses with seating capacity for 60 passengers each and two smaller Iveco buses, all fitted with television screens and free on-board Wi-Fi.
NCH has also introduced new routes: one from Windhoek to Rundu and the other from Windhoek to Walvis Bay.
Kalahari Holdings is wholly owned by the Swapo party.
In her keynote address, Swapo Secretary-General Sophia Shaningwa said NCH has actively participated in Namibia’s development.
“The company has created employment, provided goods and services to Namibians and most importantly, pays taxes to the government,” Shaningwa said.
The buses were handed over by the outgoing Chairperson of Kalahari Holdings, Advocate Bience Gawanas.
