Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) announced on Wednesday that it will begin network capacity upgrade activities on Thursday, which will continue until early November 2022.
MTC Executive Tim Ekandjo told Nampa the public will, as a result, experience possible intermittent network outages in Windhoek’s Central Business District and north-western suburbs, specifically Rocky Crest, Otjomuise, Khomasdal, Wanaheda, Shandumbala, Golgota, Soweto, Okuryangava, Ombili, Hakahana, Havana, and Greenwell.
‘Network upgrades are required due to the growing need to increase network capacity and speed, and ultimately provide quality customer experience. We have noticed increased network traffic on a number of identified sites in the city centre and some suburbs in the north-western parts of Windhoek over time,’ he said.
Ekandjo stated that, in order to avoid having a compromised network quality (calls and internet) as a result of potential network congestion, MTC will increase the capacity of these sites to ensure that its customers continue to enjoy reliable connectivity.
‘Once the upgrade begins, we will notify the public via our social media platforms as to which sites will be impacted,’ he said.
