MVA Fund gears up for festive season

The recent launch of the 2019/20 Festive Season Road Safety Campaign under the theme “#DoTheRightThingAndSaveLives” sees the MVA Fund ready to save lives with full collaboration from various partners and role-players.

The main focus of the campaign is to save as many lives as possible by reducing the impact on our roads through increased road safety education and information campaign activities, law enforcement interventions and emergency response capacity on B1 and B2 routes.

The Fund’s contributions toward the campaign include setting up temporal emergency medical response bases at Etunda, Farm Sukses and Farm Wilhelmstal in partnership with Namibia Defense Force and Namibia University of Science and Technology, with satellite bases at Arandis, Omuthiya, and Mariental. Public passenger transport safety interventions in collaboration with public transport associations; first responder awareness simulations, as well as child car safety,  are among the initiatives which will drive the Fund’s operations during this festive season.

MVA Fund Chief Corporate Affairs, Surihe Gaomas-Guchu says: “Let us all do the right thing and save lives. Plan your trip, wear your seatbelt and secure your children in a car seat. Remember to drive sober, otherwise, assign a designated driver to arrive safely. Remember to report traffic violations and unsafe situations to 085 127 300 or send an SMS to 941.

Report accidents to the MVA Fund Accident Response Number 081 9682, and flash your vehicle’s lights once, to oncoming traffic, in support of road safety.”
