PwC’s Omuhoko Trust donated 500 whistles to the Namibian Police Force’s #Keepmesafe school awareness campaign on Friday, 29 March 2019.
Country Senior Partner Ms Nangula Uaandja expressed her concern towards the escalating reports of kidnapping and violence against children in Namibia. This was the driving force behind PwC’s decision to partner with NamPol in the #KeepMeSafe School awareness campaign.
The past year’s disturbing newspaper articles and social media posts about children being abducted, spread panic among the Namibian nation. This resulted in their decision to try and curb this evil by supplying school children with whistles which they can use when facing a dangerous situation. Head of Crime Prevention Directorate Commissioner C Nakanyala said “The campaign will address violence against children in schools, homes and communities by teaching learners about their personal safety, equip them with safety tips and how to react to unsafe situations by immediately blowing a whistle whenever they are in distress, danger, feel threatened or find themselves in a sticky situations.”
PwC believe that this awareness campaign will result in quick reaction from the public when a crises occurs. We appreciate the work that NamPol does in Namibia and look forward in building a nation that will participate in issues that effects the safety and wellbeing of our children.
We hereby challenge all other Corporate Companies to support this initiative and donate whistles to NamPol.
PwC Namibia through the Omuhoko Trust mainly focus on educational initiatives which contributes to the development of young Namibians.
