On the 10th of November 2017, the Namibia Primary School, located in Katutura’s Herero location, held an inaugural ceremony for their school’s boundary wall and security fencing as donated by B2Gold Namibia.
B2Gold funded the boundary wall and security fencing through their CSR programme, under the pillar of education, thus supporting national government’s efforts to create a safe and conducive learning environment for the Namibian child.
In her keynote address, the governor of the Khomas region, Hon. Laura McLeod Katjirua said “the donation by B2Gold is a true manifestation of the private sector meeting the government half way to ensure that Namibian children receive nothing but the best in education.”
Delivering the donor message at the event on behalf of B2Gold Namibia, the Managing Director and Country Manager, Mark Dawe said “giving back to communities and striving to improve the lives of the people is what B2Gold is all about, and we do this with passion, commitment and determination.” Dawe continued to add that, although B2Gold operates a gold mine in a small geographical area in the Otjozondjupa region, its social investment programme will continue to affect national change to benefit all Namibians.
The event was also attended by the regional education director, Mr Gerald Vries, several principals from neighboUring schools, parents, and other representatives from B2Gold Namibia.
