Thank you once again for affording MultiChoice Namibia with the opportunity to partner with the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
In August this year, we donated Seven Thousand (7,000) medical hygiene materials and products, procured as a supplemental contribution toward the efforts of the Ministry, in fighting the COVID-19 disease. These consisted of 3 500 disposable isolation gowns and 3 500 disposable face masks valued at N$ 609 868.70. Today we are proud to extend an additional donation of medical equipment to the Ministry which consists of 500 additional gowns and face masks valued at N$ 82 849.90. This brings our total contribution to N$692,718.60.
I wish to extend salutations to the WHO representatives who are present with us today and wish to highlight how we have partnered with the United Nations by supporting a number of initiatives in the fight against the spread of the pandemic, which continues to wreak havoc across the globe, which is being acutely felt across Africa.
Early in the spread of the pandemic MultiChoice harnessed the power of its platforms to ensure that its subscribers across the continent were given access to credible and accurate information. As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness through information, the MultiChoice Group became an official supporter of the United Nations’ global COVID-19 awareness campaign Pause which launched on 30 June.
The aim of the Pause campaign was to highlight the dangers of sharing false information related to COVID-19. The campaign asks everyone to pause, think, and take care before sharing information which could be inaccurate or misinformed and may have harmful effects. The dissemination of credible information has become critical to fighting this epidemic which continues to impact millions across the globe and our continent. We are therefore honoured to be able to utilise the continental reach of our broadcast and digital platforms across Africa to empower people with vital information.
These interventions are evident in how we all have collectively stepped forward in serving the Namibian nation. In light of the above, globally organisations are celebrating Customer Service Week, this week. The range of organisations participating in this exciting week is broad, and you might be asking why should we celebrate it? The CX Week provides a unique opportunity for professionals around the world to celebrate the important role that customer service plays in every organisation. It’s is clearly evident that we are all driven and committed to be of service to our fellow Namibians despite these uncertain times.
As a business rooted in Namibia, we see this as a great opportunity for us to demonstrate to our customers how dedicated we are to good customer service, and being a customer-centric organisation, we are constantly looking at opportunities to improve, innovate and adapt –something we’ve all had to do during the past few months.
MultiChoice continues to seek opportunities to use its platforms to combat the spread of COVID-19. Airing educational and news-related content aligns with the organisation’s commitment to making an impact in the communities where it operates.
We are committed to living up to our promise of Enriching Lives.
I Thank You.
