The Namib Desert Diamonds (Namdia) has donated N.dollars 200 000 to the ‘Feed a Family’ project, an initiative of the Round Table 36 association at Walvis Bay on Friday.
The ‘Feed a Family’ project is aimed at assisting vulnerable communities in Walvis Bay by providing them with food parcel donations.
Namdia in a media statement availed to Nampa here said the donation will go a long way in relieving families who are struggling to put food on their tables during these very challenging times.
The donation, it said forms part of Namdia’s N.dollars 2 million COVID-19 relief assistance to the government and the nation.
It noted that this is the second donation to the Round Table 36 association, with the first one of N.dollars 50 000 made in July 2020 for the Twaloloka recovery initiative.
“The diamond industry plays an important role in the socio-economic development of Namibia’s economy and Namdia continues to be committed to its contribution to the economy and the uplifting of the Namibian people,” it said.
Other projects and initiatives that benefited from Namdia’s N.dollar 2 million COVID-19 donations include the Government’s National Disaster Fund with N.dollars one million, State-Owned Enterprises Chief Executive Office Forum with N.dollars 200,000.00.
The City of Windhoek received N.dollars 150,000, Robert Mugabe clinic benefitted 500 sanitizer bottles while the vulnerable communities around Windhoek received food parcels worth N dollars 300,000.00. The MTC knockout project against homelessness also received N.dollars 50,000.
