Founding President Sam Nujoma on Monday expressed a wish to see the Etunda Primary School produce qualified medical doctors and mining engineers in future.
The school is situated on his private farm, Etunda Trust Farm situated some 30 kilometres south of Otavi in the Otjozondjupa Region.
He was speaking at a donation of 60 chairs, 30 double desks including notice as well as teachers’ writing boards to the school by Deepsea Consolidated Investments.
Once completed, the school’s classrooms, teachers’ houses, dormitories and dining hall will offer a conducive learning environment to learners from grades one to seven.
The learners will largely be children of farm labourers in the area around Farm Etunda.
“I wish to see mining engineers and medical doctors come from these classrooms at this farm, because education is the only key to a better future for all our children,” stressed the Founding President.
He further stressed that his greatest desire is to see each Namibian child receive quality education and later contribute to the development of the country.
Nujoma expects the school and hostel for the learners to start operating by early 2019.
The farm also has a fully operational state clinic since 2017, which provide primary health care services to general farm workers and their children including accident victims on the B1 road between Otavi and Otjiwarongo.
Several business people has donated towards the construction of the Etunda Clinic and primary school facilities.
Managing Director of Deepsea Consolidated Investment, Elton Vries who handed over the donation, promised to deliver beds for the hostel learners once the dormitories are completed.
The donation is valued at N.dollars 45 000.
Vice President Nangolo Mbumba was present and toured parts of the completed school’s classrooms, clinic and hostel blocks for learners’
accommodation.
