A non-profit organisation called Lift Up Namibia donated teaching aids worth over N.dollars 100 000 to Twaalulilwa Primary School (PS) of Eenhana Education Circuit in the Ohangwena Region on Friday.
The founder and president of the organisation, Caroline Andjamba was at the school on Friday to officially handover the items such as writing books (826), pencils (2 942), crayons (3 519), scissors (244), rulers (122), mathematical sets (199), binding spines (800), sharpeners (434) and markers (228).
Other items donated to Twaalulilwa PS are tapes (53), paper cutters (3), colour pencil (82), Erasers (114) and three binding machines.
“Most of the school suppliers to be handed over on this day were donated by the Fidel Dental Group in Washington DC,” Andjamba said.
Andjamba’s United States (U.S.)-based organisation is working with Namibians living in the United States (U.S.) and with Namibia’s Honorary Consuls who are committed to improve education facilities and opportunities in Namibia.
The organisation, apart from Twaalulilwa PS, has also identified Tsumkwe PS in Otjozondjupa Region, Schmelenville Combined School (CS) in //Kharas Region, Putuavanga Senior Secondary School (SSS) in the Kunene Region and Linus Shashipapo Secondary School (SS) in the Kavango East Region as other schools to benefit from its donation of educational items.
Andjamba told those present that her organisation’s donation of education suppliers is about contributing to the economic development of the country.
She urged the beneficiaries to put the donated items to good use so that they can also be utilised in the future.
Twaalulilwa PS is a rural school established in 2000 and houses about 400 learners from the pre-primary education to Grade seven and has 17 teachers.
It is situated 10 kilometres north of Eenhana, near the Namibia-Angola borders.
