SPAR NAMIBIA recommits to help fight cancer in Namibia
SPAR NAMIBIA recommitted to fight cancer in Namibia by donating N$190 000 towards the recently hosted 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner of the Cancer Association of Namibia, that funds the National Cancer Outreach Programme.
An agreement that was concluded in April this year, sees SPAR Namibia supporting various projects of CAN enabling stronger community-based interventions to fight cancer in Namibia, come to life. The first donation was official handed over last week.
The outreach programme annually sees CAN medical teams visit all corners of the country to educate and screen for cancers types: cervical-; breast-; and prostate cancer.
Since its inception in August 2015 more than 15 000 Namibians have been complimentary screened by CAN to date;; with more than 40 onset cancer stages being diagnosed and over 100 cases of pre-cancerous cases that have helped to prevent especially cervical cancer, detected.
