Men generally don’t make their health a priority.
All too often, wellness is put on the backburner in favour of work or other obligations.
In Namibia we have experienced a rapid increase in male health conditions that include hypertension, diabetes, heart conditions and prostate cancer.
“Male HIV infection rates remain on an incline, while we have also noted serious increases in cancer diagnosis with Namibian men. Depression and mental health in men is often seen as a taboo topic. Only when we address men’s health more proactively, break the stigmas and start an open dialogue where men feel comfortable to talk; and not vulnerable to be made out as weaklings, can we win this war,” explained CAN CEO, Mr Rolf Hansen
In honour of International Men’s Health Month, June, the Cancer Association of Namibia will host two fun, but informative socialisers during Winter to bring men and their families together and talk healthy living to save lives.
On Saturday, 30 June 2018 at the Doc Jubber Fields in Olympia, Windhoek, CAN will host a Men’s Country Steak Braai sponsored by NHP.
Gentlemen are invited to bring their mates, companions and families too – because your health is our priority!
All funds generated at this event will be used to sustain the Men’s Health Clinic in the combating of Prostate and Testicular cancers.
At N$350 per person, the event includes an interactive health talk by CAN CEO, Rolf Hansen, followed with a “country steak braai dinner”. Paul Chix Herbst & Zirk Jansen will entertain us with great music for dancing.
A raffle offering great prizes that include accommodation vouchers and hampers form part of the excitement!
A cash bar for responsible enjoyment is available.
