Children of the Dr Frans Aupa Indongo Special Care Centre at the Oshakati’s Okandjengedi Informal Settlement on Saturday participated in the Special Olympics Young Athlete Sports Programme hosted by Special Olympics Namibia.

The event, Muinjo said, was for the Oshana children with and without intellectual disabilities to build an inclusive nation where they played and celebrated life together.
“Special Olympics Young Athlete uses a sport play programme to introduce children to the world of physical activity, to develop essential motor skills and hand-eye-coordination,” Muinjo explained.
He further lauded the partnership that the Special Olympics Namibia has with the Government, communities and business the fraternity for the introduction of sport play programme to the Namibian children with intellectual disabilities and others.
The children were trained in sports such as soccer and volleyball during the event.
