Every year on 08 May, World Red Cross Day is commemorated to increase public awareness of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
This year’s World Red Cross Day theme is #BeHUMANKIND (Believe in the Power of Kindness), which focuses on the power of kindness and how it can affect the entire world.
The global International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement harnesses the power of approximately 17 million volunteers, members, and staff to essentially protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all people, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering.
Individual and corporate donations enable the Red Cross to respond to thousands of disasters every year, providing shelter, food, emotional support, and other necessities to those in need.
In Namibia, the Namibia Red Cross Society is never far when help is needed. The organisation has helped thousands of Namibians, donating blankets, handing out health packs, supplying water, setting up tents for those left without shelter – the list goes on.
And they could always do with more volunteers. Now more than ever, we all need to reach out to our fellow Namibians. But how can you help those in need? Take a look at the tips below or contact the Namibia Red Cross Society for more on how you can help.
