The Shoprite and Checkers Namibian Champion Boerewors Competition was officially launched on Thursday.
A media statement issued on Thursday said since its inception in 2010, the competition has grown to become one of the country’s most well-known culinary competitions, with the goal of providing top-quality, affordable boerewors to all Namibian households.
Sanet Prinsloo, the competition’s facilitator, was quoted in the statement as saying finding the best traditional boerewors in Namibia is what makes this competition so exciting and worthwhile for them.
Aside from the fact that the participants’ authentic boerewors recipe will be available on Shoprite and Checkers shelves nationwide, the winner of the Shoprite and Checkers Champion Boerewors Competition will receive a shopping voucher worth N.dollars 150 000, while the first runner-up will receive a shopping voucher worth N.dollars 100 000, and the second runner-up, a shopping voucher worth N.dollars 50 000.
“This is significant… During these difficult times, everyone requires a little extra assistance,” Prinsloo said.
The winning boerewors will be available in all Shoprite and Checkers outlets nationwide from 24 September 2022.
Shoprite and Checkers have once again partnered with NOVA FM, Coca-Cola, Top Score, NamChefs, and Tafel Lager for the competition.
Participants are encouraged to visit the competition’s official website for more information on the application process, which is set to close on 15 June 2022.
