NAMDIA is thrilled to celebrate the one-year Anniversary and official launch of the NAMIDIA Foundation.
Established in October 2019, The NAMDIA Foundation is a registered non-profit-organisation under the patronage of the Namib Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) and chaired by the CEO of NAMDIA and trusteeship comprising of the Executive Committee of management.
The NAMDIA Foundation functions as the Corporate Social Responsibility vehicle of NAMDIA and was founded with the purpose to combat Namibia’s social and economic ills through the fields of Education, Health & Sports.
Education because it is the greatest equalizer and key to opportunities, Health because a healthy nation is a productive nation, and Sports because it creates a culture of hard work, discipline, and motivates the youth to engage in productive activities, and not destructive such as alcohol and illicit substance consumption.
OUR PURPOSE Altering the very social-economic fabric of our nation through empowering initiatives in the fields of Education, Health, and Sports.
OUR VISION Transforming vulnerable and disadvantaged communities by empowering them through self-sustainable opportunities that improve quality of life, alleviate poverty, and stimulate economic growth.
OUR OBJECTIVES:
1. To promote nation-building through the pillars of Education, Health & Sports.
2. To support vulnerable and disadvantaged communities through long term philanthropic initiatives.
3. Contribute so socio-economic emancipation of communities through collaborative efforts with the Government, communities, organizations, and individuals.
4. To provide monetary and humanitarian aid to communities, organizations, and individuals.
5. To promote moral education, charity, and the general well-being of our people.
6. Advocate nation-building values and solidarity.
7. Revitalizing the Ubuntu African philosophy (A form of humanism which can be expressed in the phrases ‘I am because of who we all are).
OUR APPROACH:
Our approach is to remain steadfast in our convictions and addressing the many problems facing our less privileged communities. We remain focused on the objectives of the organisation and prudently select initiatives that have a positive long-lasting trickle-down effect within the communities.
OUR SUCCESSES
• Sponsorship of the Brave Warriors at AFCON in 2019;
• Sponsorship for the Sports Woman of the Year Award at the Namibian Annual Sports Awards;
• The broadcasting of the Rugby World Cup by NBC television in 2019; • Sponsorship for the National Women’s Hockey team for the Tokyo 2020 Qualifiers;
• Sponsored specialised glasses, telescopes, and other customized items to the School for the Visually Impaired in collaboration with Oculus Vision Centre.
- Handed over sanitary pads and other hygiene items to school girls.
- MTC Knockout GBV Initiative 2019
- N$15 mill donated to the Government to mitigate the effect of the 2018/2019 draught
- The NAMDIA Foundation donated a total of N$ 2 million to various organizations and projects in the fight against COVID-19, part of which was allocated as follows:
- N$ 1 000 000.00 (1 million) to the Government’s National Disaster Fund
- N$ 200 000.00 to the SOE CEO’s Forum
- N$ 150 000.00 to the City of Windhoek towards water provision in the informal settlements.
- 500 sanitizer bottles to the Robert Mugabe Clinic • Food parcels (23 000kg) worth N$ 300 000.00 distributed to vulnerable communities
- N$ 50 000.00 to Round Table Namibia to assist them with the Twaloloka Recovery Initiative in Walvisbay.
- N$ 200 000.00 Walvisbay Round Table 36 for the Feed-A-Family Initiative. Since its inception, NAMDIA has spent over N$ 20 million on various charity and philanthropic programs and anticipates continuing being involved in life changing initiatives through The NAMDIA Foundation. The NAMDIA Foundation remains committed to advocating nationbuilding and has prioritized its contribution to the country’s social economic growth through numerous donations and sponsorships.
The NAMDIA Foundation will continue to embark upon new projects with the aim of producing lifelong generational benefits that will contribute to the overall social economic growth of the nation. We will continue to broaden our scope of operations through donations and sponsorships to organizations, institutions and individuals for charitable and philanthropic purposes aimed at yielding long term life-changing results.
