The Northern preliminary round of the Nedbank National Kapana Cook-Off will take place this weekend on Saturday, 17 October at the Gwashamba Mall in Ondangwa.
Nedbank Namibia Communication Manager and Spokesperson, Gernot de Klerk once again reiterated the competition is a stepping stone to financial freedom for the winner, “The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us all to establish innovative ways to live the new normal. With many Namibians finding themselves out of work and desperate for a source of income, the Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off Competition provides an opportunity for the winner to establish and grow a successful business. A good example of this is Sakeus Kateya, our 2018 Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off winner, who now employs at least five people through his Kapana trailer business. Since winning, Sakeus has impressively managed to acquire an additional food trailer and is making steady progress to entrench his brand as a kapana champion,” he stated.
Just under 100 entries were received for the round in Ondangwa. The contestants will be expected to go through two rounds of making their best salsa and kapana, to see them go to the final, which will be hosted in Windhoek on 21 November. Here they will join the Walvis Bay round finalists, Laura Egumbu, Asnath Vetamunisa, and Ndahambelela Immanuel, as well as the finalist from the Windhoek round which will take place on 7 November.
Other sponsors for the Nedbank Kapana Cook-Off include the Namibian Chefs Association and Bakpro. Entry forms for the Nedbank National Kapana Cook-Off are available at all Nedbank Namibia branches countrywide.
