IT company Binary City launched a new competition for software developers designed to challenge and stimulate developers by testing their computer science skills, problem-solving skills, creativity, passion for code, and how updated coders are.
The overall best coder at the end of the competition will win a Corsair HS70 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset valued at N. dollars 3 000.
In an interview with this agency on Monday, Binary City’s founder Rayno Burger said the company has always strived to be the market leader in Namibia when it comes to software development.
“Our track record proves that we have been able to achieve this in the last 11 years of our company’s existence. However, we understand that the IT industry is by no means an easy one,” he said.
He said that although it’s a competition, the exercise will be done in good spirits to encourage developers to see this as an opportunity to challenge their peers.
“The more they tell their fellow developers about the competition, the better the race will be,” he said.
Burger noted that the competition will run in two phases. Phase one involves a problem that developers must solve, which was thought out by Binary City’s development department, and phase two will be a matchup between the top best solvers of the problem.
“For phase two, participants can join in virtually or in person at Binary City’s head office,” he said.
Phase one is already underway and will end on 11 October 2020. The announcement of the best coders of phase one will be made on Tuesday, 13 October 2020.
“Our matchup between the best solvers of the problem will be announced on 24 October 2020 as well as the overall best coder and winner,” Burger said.
Developers that are eager to test their skill against their peers are encouraged to visit the company’s website.
