The Namibia Community Trust (NCT) has donated food parcels and blankets worth N.dollars 350 000 to the San communities of Tsumkwe and Grootfontein.
The 600 food parcels and 400 blankets were handed over to Otjozondjupa Governor, James Uerikua at the Otjozondjupa Regional Council Chambers on Friday.
The food parcels contain maize meal, cooking oil, sugar, and matangara.
Uerikua while receiving the donation said the distribution to the targeted communities in the Tsumkwe and Grootfontein constituencies is planned for next week through the constituency offices.
“After the distribution of the parcels to the beneficiaries, we will compile a detailed report where we will indicate how many people benefitted and where. The report will then be shared with NCT,” the governor said.
NCT Project Coordinator Anne-Marie Molatudi urged the beneficiaries to not sell the items as it is specifically meant to assist less resourced and affected households.
“We urge you to use the blankets to keep yourselves warm and the food items to feed your families,” she said.
