Namib Desert Diamonds (Namdia) has donated N.dollars 2 million to support Namibia’s fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a media release issued on Wednesday, Namdia said since its inception, it has prioritised its contribution to the country through various philanthropic and charity initiatives and is honoured to once again be able to support the nation.
Of the N.dollars 2 million donated through the Namdia Foundation, N.dollars 1 million went to the government’s National Disaster Fund, N.dollars 200 000 to the Public Enterprises Chief Executive Officers Forum and N.dollars 150 000 to the City of Windhoek.
The amount availed to the City of Windhoek will be used for fuel for ambulances (N.dollars 50 000) and water for vulnerable communities (N.dollars 100 000).
It has also provided sanitiser to the Robert Mugabe Clinic and food parcels to vulnerable communities.
“The remaining funds will be strategically assigned to more projects and initiatives as the battle against COVID-19 advances,” the statement said.
