The Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to the Namibian nation by connecting communities and partners to better the fight against cancer in the country.
In the association’s message for 2020 and availed to Nampa on Wednesday, CAN Chief Executive Officer, Rolf Hansen, said it is a time to reflect and recognise the contributions of the hundreds of health professionals and more than 28 038 newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families which CAN had the privilege of working with over the last decade.
“At CAN our aim is to support and partner with this inspiring community by learning from their knowledge and insights through partnering with them to the benefit of our people,” he said.
Hansen further said in 2020 and the decade ahead, Namibians should reaffirm their support to change for the better.
“While learning from what is, let us move towards what is better. May we see the urgency as a community, both private, corporate, civil and public, to align ourselves with the common vision to build our nation’s healthcare system, fight non-communicable diseases, and especially support the fight on cancer – the ticking time bomb of this decade,” he said.
Hansen further stated that each fundraiser, every outreach, the clinics and the support programmes all enable CAN to positively impact lives.
“Let’s celebrate wholeheartedly and invest in the people behind the fight against cancer, their commitment to our patients. Let’s raise and empower their voices and help them continue their work to make access to sustainable cancer care a priority for everybody in Namibia, with no one left behind,” he said.
The Cancer Association of Namibia, in cooperation with the community, fights cancer and its consequences countrywide for the benefit of all Namibians by supporting research and providing health education and information and care and support services.
