First National Bank of Namibia (FNB) donated two benches to the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) here on Thursday.
Receiving the donation, NUST’s Director of Alumni, Kaitira Kandjii said the gesture is important because most students usually hang around and have nowhere to sit, particularly during lunch or in between classes.
“Students will now be able to use the benches provided by FNB while waiting for their next lesson or to relax during lunch,” he said.
He further added that the university is in the process of establishing a foundation to be a platform where donors and stakeholders can provide monetary resources to the university.
“The purpose of the foundation is to support needy students and contribute to the development of the university, as this will assist with the purchasing of new information and communication technology equipment and internet bandwidth which is a challenge at NUST,” Kandjii noted.
Speaking at the same event, FNB Skills Facilitator for Learning and Development, Mechitilde Mupiri said the bank believes in helping people to help themselves, in doing so leaving a legacy while serving bringing solutions to people’s lives.
