Agra through the Agra Staff Initiative Fund (ASIF) has been giving back to the vulnerable communities the past winter. The project that commenced beginning of June served as a countrywide practice, where vulnerable members of the community as well as various organisations received donations in the form of blankets, food items and basic necessities.
The ASIF Fund was established and is sustained with donations from compassionate Agra employees who feel strongly about making a difference in the Namibian community. The winter drive is one of ASIF’s initiatives whereby Agra staff members countrywide give back to their respective communities.
The ASIF Fund’s Chairperson, Mr Christo van Wyk, stated that it is imperative that we remember the vulnerable during winter. “It is our responsibility as Corporates to take care of the people in the communities in which we operate and that is why the ASIF Fund availed an amount of approximately N$ 50 000 to help the vulnerable communities survive the winter,” he said.
“We all know that volunteering for a good cause is an important way to show our care and compassion throughout the year, especially when it comes to those less fortunate than ourselves. However, during the long, cold winter months, this noble cause is more important than ever and that is why Agra staff members took up the duty to help those who can’t help themselves”, he added.
Ms. Ndapewa Neshila, Agra Public Relations and Communications Officer, stated that the project is in line with Agra’s value of rooted in our people. “Our Heritage is rooted in our people and therefore we stay true in constantly striving to create a better life for all Namibians”, she says.
“With this donation we aim to improve the socio-economic status of the Namibians by benefiting the communities in which we operate, “she added.
Agra Branches countrywide participated in this worthy cause.
