Namib Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) Foundation announced on Wednesday that it would sponsor N. dollars 179 000 to the National Women’s Hockey Team for the Tokyo 2020 qualifiers taking place in Stellenbosch next week.
A statement availed to Nampa on Wednesday said the amount would go towards financing accommodation, meals and training gear, in addition to other expenses.
“We see sport as a unifier and we want to help to develop brilliance in sports, which will contribute to us being globally competitive. The National Women’s Hockey Team has been performing exceptionally well,” the statement continued.
It said NAMDIA Foundation, the non-profit organisation through which all corporate social responsibility activities of State-owned NAMDIA are coordinated, strives to advance the lives of Namibians through health, education and sports.
