NamPower on Monday donated school equipment valued at N.dollars 380 602.46 to disadvantaged learners of the Okamatapati Combined School.
According to a statement issued to by the Okamatapati Combined School on Tuesday, the items include 200 desks and chairs for the learners and 26 tables for teachers amounting to N.dollars 345 000 to the Okamatapati school in the Otjozondjupa region.
Other items include shirts, blouses, skirts, jerseys and shoes valued at N.dollars 35 602.46, which were donated to 92 disadvantaged learners from the school.
During the handover, NamPower’s Marketing Officer, Martha Shifotoka, said during the handover that education remains a great equaliser, particularly among marginalised communities.
“Education is one of the keys to success and remains the cornerstone of a bright future for all children. However, it is very expensive and unaffordable to many parents,” Shifotoka said.
She added that NamPower will, for as long as resources allow, continue to plough into the development of communities, as it is their ambition to see a prosperous and thriving nation.
She further added that the future is for those who work hard and never stop trying before wishing the learners the best in their school careers, urging them to study hard, listen to teachers, be respectful and not let circumstances discourage them.
