The 2019 Nedbank Citi Run was officially launched in Windhoek on Tuesday.
The 10-kilometre race, which has a cut-off time of 50 minutes, is scheduled for 23 June 2019 along the capital’s Independence Avenue.
The run will also feature a five and 10-kilometre fun run and walk, which will be held after the Citi Run which is expected to attract close to 2 000 people.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Nedbank Namibia Limited Chief Financial Officer, JG van Graan, said the Citi Run is set to happen on the same day as the International Olympic Day.
“The Olympic values and ethos of excellence, friendship and respect are strongly linked to the need for hosting this race and is in keeping with Nedbank Namibia’s endeavour to encourage health in our country,” he said.
Organiser Frank Bombosch of Cycletec said the Citi Dash will start at the Zoo Park and will go all the way to the Simon de Witt Bridge along Independence Avenue, back past the starting point for one kilometre and loop around Dr António Agostinho Neto Square (former Ausspannplatz Circle) before the final dash to the finishing point.
