The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) on Friday opened its Regional Offices in Rundu, in the Kavango East Region.
It is situated in the multi-million dollar complex of the Namibia’s Motor Accident Vehicle Fund (MVA) regional offices.
Speaking at the official inauguration, Its Chief Executive Officer, Marthin Inkumbi explained, the branch will bring the bank’s services closer to the people of Kavango East Region, with the hope of seeing an increase uptake in its finance opportunities by the region’s entrepreneurs.
He said the branch will enable the bank to source local investment opportunities while rendering financial advice and support services to entrepreneurs from the north-eastern part of Namibia.
Inkumbi therefore called on local entrepreneurs to use the bank’s services.
“Local entrepreneurs are the true agents of economic development and economic growth. Investment are not only made by foreigners and other people from other parts of the country,” advised the bank’s top executive.
On his part, Kavango East Regional Governor Ambassador Samuel Mbambo said he was happy that the bank has finally opened its doors in the region, a gesture that shows DBN’s commitment in the country’s fight for economic struggle.
Mbambo said: “It is my conviction that the Development Bank of Namibia is in a good position to change this culture of depending on our neighbours and other countries for development.”
DBN, he suggested, should be one of the institutions that must take the lead in the country’s economic struggle because there is no other bank that understands the country’s economic struggle than the institution.
