First National Bank (FNB) of Namibia on Thursday launched Data Free App Use, paving the way for clients to bank anywhere, anytime without additional costs.
FNB Namibia and partner Mobile Telecommunications Limited announced that the FNB mobile phone application (app) has been zero rated, which means customers will not need data or credit to do their banking on their phones via the FNB app.
FNB Executive Officer for Consumer Banking, Martha Murorua said FNB is proud to once again introduce a solution that will enable all Namibians to bank from the palms of their hands.
“We believe that access to data or airtime should not be a barrier to safe and convenient banking for Namibia. The zero rating of the app is in line with our broader strategy to migrate customers to digital and electronic channels, where several transactions and services are already offered free of charge,” she said.
Murorua explained that since the launch of the FNB banking app in 2013, the app has been actively used and downloaded by Namibians and they are proud to announce that this innovation has become key in offering their customers alternative banking solutions, where customers can transact, borrow, invest and communicate and now, at no data cost at all.
She said the latest version of the app boasts industry-leading security features, such as fingerprint login.
