Medscheme Namibia has made a sponsorship of N. dollars 150 000 towards the One Economy Foundation in support of creating awareness about gender-based violence.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony, Medscheme Human Resources Manager Bella Mbonga said the company acknowledges that violence in Namibia comes at a tremendous cost to communities and society in terms of public wellbeing, health and safety, productivity and ultimately the economy.
These are the same challenges which can affect Medscheme Namibia and its workforce through instances of violence.
“That is why Medscheme Namibia in partnership with the One Economy Foundation, has taken this initiative today to ensure that awareness is raised about violence,” she said.
Mbonga also said their involvement in this initiative is aimed at creating a dialogue about violence that will lead to change.
The sponsorship was received by First Lady Monica Geingos on behalf of the One Economy Foundation, which she initiated. Through the One Economy Foundation, the First Lady has initiated numerous programmes which focus on breaking the poverty cycle.
