The Southern Business School (SBS) on Friday concluded its roadshow at Keetmanshoop, which started in July this year in Rundu, followed by Otjiwarongo and Walvis Bay.
It aims to provide a platform for students to register, collect their study materials, make payments and for general enquiries as SBS is a distance school with branches in Windhoek and Ongwediva only.
Speaking to Nampa here on Friday, Albin Jacobs, Director of SBS in Namibia said the institute realised that there are often logistic constraints when students want to register in person as registrations take place in Windhoek. That is when the idea of the roadshow was born to accommodate those from elsewhere.
“This means prospective students around Namibia, not just in the capital will be able to register for the tertiary education course of their choice in towns around the country that are nearer to them,” he said.
Jacobs said SBS provides opportunities for people to study at their own pace, at their own convenience and ensuring it fits in with their lifestyle.
“We provide affordable access to recognised qualifications for students and people who want to improve themselves and qualify for that sought-after promotion or pay grade increase,” he said.
He added that over the years, there has been a major upswing in people enrolling in distance education “as they see the possibilities for themselves that are enabling them to reach their full potential”.
SBS has over 3 000 students across the country and offers 12 qualifications mainly linked to business management.
Currently SBS has four centres in the //Kharas Region; in Keetmanshoop, Rosh Pinah, Lüderitz and Oranjemund where students of the region write their exams.
All courses are strictly done on distance.
