As part of the FNB Classic Clashes 2018 two rugby games were played last weekend between MK Gertze and Dr. Lemmer High Schools, as well as Elnatan and Windhoek High School. MK Gertze emerged victorious against their opponents, beating Dr. Lemmer with 12 to 10 points, while WHS was crowned the victor with 50 to 33 points against Elnatan.
Rehoboth’s MK Gertze scored a late penalty to snatch the victory from Dr. Lemmer. While the visitors played an outstanding game, their concerns centred around the set piece, while the hosts enjoyed the breakdowns and won several turnovers which gave them possession. Petrus /Goagoseb of MK Gertze was named Aquasplash Hero while Maquel Busen, also of MK Gertze, was crowned FNB Classic Clashes Man of the Match.
Windhoek High School’s victory was a one-sided affair and they showed their dominance right from the start, while Elnatan made a number of unforeseen errors which led to their downfall.
Donavan Resandt, flanker of WHS was named Man of the Match, while Team Captain Rudolph du Plessis of Elnatan was crowned Aquasplash Hero. Donovan Resandt: “My team performed very well today, we just have to work harder on the defence. The game was fair. My advice for the other team would be to work a little harder, but they are a very good team to play against. They are tough competition. My message to fellow scholars, work very hard and be at training, don’t quit and be stronger.”
On 6 and 7 July, JA Nel and Suiderlig will meet on the soccer field, while Mariental and PK de Villiers will play Rugby against each other in Keetmanshoop and Mariental respectively.
