Namibia Dairies donated milk to three schools in the Hardap Region on Wednesday to mark World Milk Day.
The day is celebrated annually on 01 June.
This year marks the 18th anniversary of World Milk Day, which was established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations to recognise the importance of milk as a global food.
Namibia Dairies, a subsidiary of the Olthaver & List Group, donated the 3
168 litres of milk worth N.dollars 48 180 to AA Denk Primary School (PS), St Patrick PS and Kalkrand PS.
Speaking during the handover, Hardap Governor Esme Isaack said the donation shows Namibia Dairies heeded President Hage Geingob’s call to pull in the same direction.
She said it is evidence that the company is willing to create and maintain a stable and development-friendly environment for change in rural areas such as the Rehoboth Rural Constituency.
“Education calls for collective and inclusive re-doubled efforts of all forces on all fronts. Therefore, I am calling on all managers and custodians not to fail our donors, our critical partners in the development of the livelihood of our people at grassroots levels,” she said.
The Director of Agri-Business at Namibia Dairies, Borney Britz handed over the milk.
