Kumwe Fishing, as part of its social corporate responsibility, has donated 150 food hampers valued at N.dollars 70 000 to senior citizens, orphans, vulnerable children and disabled people at Gibeon in the Hardap Region.
In a statement availed to Nampa on Monday, Gibeon Constituency Councillor Jeremia Van Neel applauded Kumwe Fishing for the donation during difficult economic times and called on other corporate entities to emulate their gesture.
“The donation is in response to a call by the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Bernhardt Esau, for the fishing industry to join Government’s efforts to contribute towards the food security programme under the Harambee Prosperity Plan,” company director Annastasia Helao was quoted as saying in the statement.
Kumwe Fishing was established in 2011 and is a joint venture that constitutes five companies – /Gai –ob Fishing; Gibeon Indigenous Fishing Limited; Iyaloo Women’s Group; Kayengona Fishing and Tweyapo Fishing.
