More than 20 young Small and Medium Enterprise.
(SME) owners benefited from an entrepreneur roundtable held by SMEs Compete here on Tuesday.
The gathering was aimed at helping to improve business performance and competitiveness in the Namibian SME sector.
A media statement issued by the consultancy firm said experienced business owners shared their business skills and knowledge with participants during the discussion.
Aili Venonya who owns Aili Catering and Trading encouraged the entrepreneurs to concentrate on customer service as customers are a valuable aspect of every business.
“Customer service is not just about smiling with customers, but respecting your co-workers because only as a team will the organisation be able to achieve its objectives,” she said.
The director of SMEs Compete, Danny Meyer said many Namibians have the passion to pursue entrepreneurship, yet they tend to instead opt for formal employment.
“You are never too young or too old to start a business. What is needed is dedication and the attitude to face challenges because only through experience can someone gain skills,” he said.
He further added that SMEs are the way forward in treating the headache of unemployment that almost every family experiences in Namibia.
Jordan Efraim, the owner of Helpan Consultants and Alpharo Investment who has been in the industry for almost two years, said the discussions helped him realise his capabilities.
“I was on the verge of leaving everything, but the hosting of the entrepreneur round tables gave me courage to rise up and continue with my business,” he said.
