The ‘Namswagg’ idea started off as an instagram account where Salomo Festus would feature quality pictures of people that looked good and represented Namibians from various backgrounds. This included those that wore cultural attire, official wear, vintage and street wear as Festus saw how they all wore them in a classic way and he wanted to create awareness and promote the way Namibians portray their swag.
Festus defines swag as self-defined adding that, “We as Namibians wear what we feel comfortable in and want to be respected for that and that is where the idea came in to actually make a brand that speaks to Namibians and not just as an Instagram account.”
The aim of the ‘Namswagg’ brand is actually for people to embrace their unique way and style of dressing up, taking pride in the country and encourage people to support local and showcase to the world around us what Namibians are made of.
“I also do this to make the world understand that in Namibia we are diverse and that we also have fashion sense and our own unique style” he said. He envisions the brand reaching tourists too and those that visit and fall in love with the beauty that is Namibia will have a unique memorabilia to take home with them.
