Dundee Precious Metals has donated goods valued at N.dollars 50 000 to senior citizens at Nomtsoub and The Palm Old Age Home in Tsumeb.
A media statement from the company on Wednesday said the donation, which was handed over at the beginning of the year, included fridges, digital satellite television decoders, lawnmowers, pots and stoves.
The donation, the company said, was expected to go towards capacity building for senior citizens and improvement of their living standards.
The recipients expressed their gratitude and thanked the Harambee Prosperity Plan for creating an environment where the private sector and other partners in development are encouraged to participate in various ways.
“Thank you for meeting the needs of even the elderly in our community,”
said Valerie Oberholster, The Palm Old Age Home Management Committee Member.
Lovisa Iiyambo from the Nomstsoub Old Age Management Committee thanked Dundee for their continuous support and commended them for the work they have done for Tsumeb and the Namibian nation.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Dundee Precious Metals Events Coordinator Elizabeth Mutota said the company believes collaborative efforts such as donations at all levels of the community will benefit, aid and support long-term capacity building of communities.
“We are aware of the fifth National Development Plan’s objectives, the input required from the private sector and as Namibia’s development partners, Dundee will hold hands and contribute to the realisation of our national objectives as stated in NDP5,” she said.
