The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Professor Peter H. Katjavivi herewith announces the Official Opening of Parliament 2018. This event will be taking place at the Parliament Building on Tuesday, 13 February, at 14h30.
In keeping with the provisions of Rule 15 of the Standing Rules and Orders and Constitutional responsibilities, His Excellency Dr. Hage G. Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, will officially open Parliament.
This important annual event on the calendar of the Republic of Namibia takes place under the theme: “Enhancing Partnerships to Strengthen Good Governance in Namibia”. The official Opening of Parliament brings together the three main Organs of the State (Executive; Legislature and Judiciary) under one roof, and is accompanied by a Guard of Honour (Military Parade) and a Twenty-one Gun Salute.

Please take note that Robert Mugabe Avenue and Love Street (around the Parliament Gardens) might be closed-off to public traffic between 13h30 and 17h00.
