In a statement issued on Friday, CAN’s CEO, Rolf Hansen said the donation is aimed at supporting the House Acacia Interim Home and for CAN to assist the Dr AB May Cancer Care Centre at the Windhoek Central Hospital.
The interim house accommodates out of town cancer patients (mainly from rural areas) undergoing treatment at the hospital, while the Dr AB May Cancer Care Centre offers radiation therapy to patients with benign
(non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) tumours.
The statement added that the donation was a part of NBL recommitting its support to the fight against cancer and for the Olthaver and List Group of Companies to ensure the work of CAN, the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the fight against cancer in Namibia stays strong.
The donation comes in a week that marks the start of CAN’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
The association’s core focus is the create awareness on cancer in Namibia, fight cancer and assist cancer patients emotionally, physically and financially as best as possible through their journey.
