TUI Care Foundation and Futouris e.V. awarded 8 students who were selected through exhaustive screening and assessments scholarships to study for a Certificate in Food and Beverage Services at Silver Spoon Hospitality Academy in Windhoek. The 8 girls were selected they had successfully completed 3 months of professional, personal, team development and life coaching sessions with Manpower Development Centre CC, in addition to an introductory course in Hospitality Management which was offered by Silver Spoon Hospitality Academy. The programme is made possible through the NFA’s partnership with German Development Cooperation through GIZ and private partners from the tourism industry such as the Futouris e.V. and the TUI Care Foundation.
Eisi Hoabes, Josephina Fillipus, Felicity Goagoses, Agnes Kauzuu, Theophilia Bitz, Romancia Maletzky, Rosevindy Kandenge and Merium Louis will kick off their scholastic year of training with a four (4) day tour to the AfriCat Foundation situated at the Okonjima Lodge to take part in their Environmental Education Programme to start on Monday the 22nd January 2018. The AfriCat Foundation’s Environmental Education Programme looks to further compliment and enrich the learning experience of the students through theoretical and practical sustainable environmental trainings.
The NFA Girls Centre’s objectives are to empower and support girls and young women through sport as well as to create safe spaces for their wellbeing. With one of the focus components being to educate, programs such as these not only aids to empower the girls and their families but ultimately improve the employability of Namibian women. The NFA Girls Centre with the support of international partners, sponsors and stakeholders aims to continue this culture of investing in such initiatives to ensure the Namibian Girl child is empowered beyond the football field.
