In order to liven up the environment in which prisoners are confined to, especially over the looming family holidays, pupils from the two schools will draw 1 000 handmade Christmas cards for approximately 1 000 inmates of the Windhoek Correctional Facility while Shoprite supermarket will give them 1 000 gift packs.
Managing Director of Shoprite Namibia, Paul Malan said in a statement that “making a positive commitment is more than just providing a great service and quality product at the lowest prices possible, it’s about building relationships”.
Colette Rieckert, managing director of Gymnasium Private School, said they are very pleased to be part of the project, adding it is their way of giving back to the community with this small gesture.
Kosmos 94.1 and partners will hand over the special Christmas cards and gift packs to the inmates on 06 December 2017.
Kolie van Coller, managing director of Kosmos 94.1, expressed excitement about the handover, and thanked all partners involved in the project.
First Lady Monica Geingos will be the guest of honour during that event.
