Namibia is well on course to enhance her presence in Ghana and beyond, with a strong participation and showcase at the 53rd General Assembly (GA) of the World Trade Centre’s Association (WTCA), that took place in Accra, Ghana from 23-28 April 2023. It was attended by over 300 delegates from World Trade Centre Associations from across over the world.
In building up anticipation for Namibia’s participation in the General Assembly, the delegation hosted the Namibia Investment and Trade Business Forum at the Namibian High Commission, with the objective of creating linkages with the local business community, while highlighting the comparative advantages that position Namibia as a lucrative trading partner and investment destination. Over a hundred (100) Ghana-based business people from different sectors such as oil and gas, real estate, agriculture, tourism, mining, ICT, arts and fashion. Captains of industry and various Chief Executive Officers were also in attendance, and engaged with the Namibian business delegation. The Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Honourable Lucia Iipumbu delivered opening remarks, while Ms. Nangula Uaandja, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of NIPDB, gave a presentation on investment opportunities in Namibia.
The 53rd General Assembly (GA) of the World Trade Centre’s Association (WTCA), a first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, officially kicked off on Monday, 24 April 2023. Honourable Iipumbu addressed the Conference on the Investment climate and economic opportunities in Namibia.
Ms. Uaandja, participated at a panel discussion on “The journey to a unified African market. Critical Milestones, Challenges and Opportunities for the Private Sector”, while Mr. Salomo Hei, Head of High Economic Intelligence, took part in a Panel discussion titled, “Financing Trade and Strategic Investments in Africa.”
Namibia also had an attractive exhibition booth where various products including, meat and meat products, dairy products, pomegranates, dates, maize and wheat products, beer, wine, spirits, cow hides, cosmetics, charcoal, artefacts, Nakara handbags and coats, were displayed
The 53rd World Trade Centre’s Association (WTCA) General Assembly (GA) is an annual event that brings together high-level government and business delegates from across the globe. Namibia participated at the General Assembly under the sub-theme “Namibia: the land of many opportunities”, with a focus on Agriculture, Fisheries, Mining, Tourism, Energy, Logistics Infrastructure and Real Estate.
