On 18 January 2023, The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Wisnu Edi Pratignyo, accompanied by the Head of Economics Affairs paid a working visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Windhoek, Namibia, to discuss joint activities to promote MIKTA in Namibia. Turkish Ambassador, H.E. Feral Çekerek Oruçkaptan warmly welcomed Excellency Wisnu.
During the meeting, Ambassador Wisnu shared few possible activities to promote MIKTA, including: Focus Group Discussions (FGD), cultural performances, or bazaars. Ambassador Feral welcomed and willing to assist the proposed joint MIKTA promotion cooperation to the Namibian public.
MIKTA consists of five member states, namely, Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia. MIKTA was formed in 2013 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The group aims to support effective global governance. The MIKTA group is diverse in terms of culture, socio-economic structure and as well as its geography which provides a unique perspective.
MIKTA is a value-based partnership across regions with main common features and interests: all member countries are G20 economies with a similar GDP and have a common interest to ensure global governance system works for all countries regardless of size and influence. This commonality provides a solid foundation for mutual cooperation.
