The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced three new appointments to the high court.
A media release issued by the Office of the Judiciary on Thursday said David Munsu and Erich Kesslau have been appointed in a substantive capacity as judges of the High Court with effect from 01 April while Philanda Christiaan has been appointed as acting Judge of the High Court from 01 April 2023 until 31 March 2024.
It said Munsu and Kesslau have both previously served as acting judges of the High Court and are currently serving as such until 31 March.
Meanwhile, Christiaan also served as an acting Judge of the High Court for various periods in 2016, 2017 and 2022.
She is currently serving as the Chief Magistrate, having held this office since September 2009.
Also announced in the media release was the extension of the retirement age of Judge George Coleman.
To enable the High Court to deal expeditiously with its work, Coleman’s retirement age has been extended by one year to 66.
Coleman was appointed as a Judge of the High Court with effect from 01 January 2022 and was due to retire on 31 January 2023, when he turns 65 years old.
