The Okakarara Trade Fair, which was suspended for the past two years due to the COVID-19 outbreak, started Monday morning with more than 105 exhibitors.
This year’s edition, which is the 14th, is being organised by the Okakarara Town Council.
The chairperson of the Okakarara Town Council management committee, Golden Katjatako, in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the fair is taking place at the town’s trade fair centre from 05 to 10 September.
“So far we have created 105 stalls in total, and 35 of them are corporate companies and government ministries, which are all positioned in the main hall,” he said.
Katjatako further said two Kenyan and one Tanzanian business are trading under the international exhibitor category at the fair.
He urged participants to capitalise on the event by establishing business networks and also generating income for themselves.
Katjatako further thanked farmers who brought 200 different breeds of cattle, 100 sheep and 100 goats to the event and urged them to continue participating in the trade fair in future.
“Other activities listed on our programme include seminars on the best farming practices, a beauty pageant, motorbike tours, a career fair for students, music bash on Saturday night and different cooking competitions,” he said.
Vice President Nangolo Mbumba is the patron of the event and he is expected to officially open the 2022 Okakarara Trade Fair on Thursday, said Katjatako.
